On April 15, 2026, the first Ukrainians’ Unity Center in Europe will open in Berlin — an initiative designed to preserve the connection of millions of Ukrainians abroad with Ukraine and to support their potential return home.
According to Eurostat, more than 4.3 million Ukrainians are under temporary protection in EU countries, including 1.2 million in Germany. Berlin became the first city where such a center will operate.
Ahead of the center’s opening, during an official visit of the Ukrainian-German delegation, Kharkiv IT Cluster together with Diia.City Union and Sigma Software Group presented the Tech Hub — a dedicated zone within the Unity Center focused on the Ukrainian IT industry.
What is the Tech Hub?
The Tech Hub is an information technology space where Ukrainians staying in Germany can learn more about the current state and opportunities of the IT sector. The initiative’s partners include KSE, SoftServe, and the National Contech Cluster.
The space is equipped with everything necessary for comfortable work of IT specialists, including workstations and infrastructure for remote work. The Tech Hub features a separate hall for meetings, events, and interaction with companies, as well as interactive zones for children and youth interested in IT education and digital skills.
Visitors to the Ukrainians’ Unity Center in Berlin will be able to visit the Tech Hub to get acquainted with leading Ukrainian tech companies and learn about key associations and organizations working for the development of the industry.
“One of the most important things we can do right now is maintain a living connection between Ukrainians abroad and the Ukrainian tech ecosystem. Kharkiv IT Cluster joined the Tech Hub from this very standpoint: we want Ukrainians, wherever they are, to know that their place in the industry has not disappeared. And this applies not only to those already in IT, but also to those just considering it as their path: people looking for a new profession, parents thinking about their children’s future, young people seeking to understand their opportunities. The Tech Hub is a space where this connection to technological Ukraine becomes tangible — through people, companies, and opportunities that exist here and now,” says Olha Shapoval, Executive Director of Kharkiv IT Cluster.
From April 15, consultations on returning to Ukraine, educational and cultural events for Ukrainians abroad will become available in Berlin.
“We appreciate the support of the EU and the German government in facilitating the opening and operation of the Unity Center in Berlin. Germany became the first country with which Ukraine signed a joint declaration on opening a Unity Center. We want this space to become a place for maintaining connection with Ukraine and a source of verified information for making decisions about returning home,” said Denys Ulyutin, Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine.
In addition, consultations from the Pension Fund of Ukraine will be available at the center, along with events for children and youth, career guidance programs, and training in digital technologies.
The Unity Center in Berlin will be administered by LLC “National Unity Agency.” The space will begin operations in a test mode, and updates can be followed on its official Facebook page.
